Hydrostatic Release Units

Disposable Hydstatic Release Unit

The Thanner range of operating heads are very compact, light and suitable for release of CO2, nitrogen and compressed air at cylinder pressure up to 300bar.

Thanner Disposable Hydrostatic Release Units are all patented units, designed for trouble free installation, reliable function and service free lifetime up to 6 years /72 months , 4 years /48 months ore 2 1/2 years /30 months after correct installation.

The units are all approved to the new MED and SOLAS regulations together with ships wheel approval, USCG, TC and many others. The units are made from stainless steel and UV- resistant plastics to meet the tough requirements of the marine environment. The units operate independently of the life raft buoyancy and is approved for all sizes of life raft! up to a buoyancy load of 1500kgs.

All parts can be recycled and are made from non-toxic materials. Special versions/other release depths are available on request.

Disposable Remote Activated HRU Systems

Thanner Disposable Hydrostatic Release Units for Remote Activation are based on the standard disposable HRU range. The standard units are fitted with adaptor enabling remote activation mechanical, electric and pressure.

One unit alone can act as hydrostatic release, remote and manual unit, which simplifies the installation and increase safe operation.

The units have the same approvals as the standard units.

Mechanical Activation

The HRU has an adapter to which a mechanical connection can be fitted. The mechanical activation could be by a TELEFLEX or MORSE cable or any kind of mechanical connections. This method can be used for limited distances only.

Electric Activation

The HRU has a pyrotechnic activator, which by limited electric power activates the HRU. The power can be supplied either by batteries or the ships emergency supply system, or both as safety back up. The electrice installation is a standard ships installation like a fire alarm system. The activation can be activated by a control box placed in the wheel house. Two wires are necessary for each HRU. No limits of distance from the control box to HRU’s. Programmed priority of release sequence. Close proximity activation at life raft cradle.

Pressure Activation:

The HRU has an adapter to which a pressure line can be connected. The pressure can be supplied from a gas disposal cylinder or a pressure tank. More units can be activated simultaneously or one unit at a time if fead by individual pressure lines. No limit in distance from control panel to HRU.

Serviceable Hydrostatic Release Unit

Thanner Serviceable Hydrostatic Release Units are designed for heavy duty installations, reliable function and no limited lifetime if serviced regularly. Service intervals follow the raft servicing

The units can be manualy released and reset for continued service. The DK84.1 is approved to the new MED and SOLAS regulations together with ships wheel approval, USCG, TC and many others.

The unit is made from stainless steel and composite polyamid plastic to meet the tough requirements of the marine environment. The unit operates independently of the life raft buoyancy and are approved for any life raft up to a load of 1850 kgs.

All parts can be recycled and are made from non-toxic materiales. Special versions/release depths are available on request. The DK84.1 FN and DK84 RN2 does not comply with MED / SOLAS but have the same main carateristics as DK84.1

None SOLAS versions are available with release depths down to 250m water gauge.

Operating independently of life raft buoyancy. No limit on service life, as long as the HRU is tested and necessary spare parts are exchanged according to the service manual specifications. Service intervals like the life raft. Manually release and resetting possible by testing. Approved to release buoyancies up to 1850kg. The unit is made from stainless steel AISI 316 and composite. Weight 1.45kg

Operates independently of life raft buoyancy. One unit only can fulfil the function as a hydrostatic release unit and a remote activated unit, no service requirements. 4 years operational service life for the HRU. Weight 364g. 4 years/48 months service time after correct installation.
